ELIGIBILITY (Educational and Age)
Educational Qualification
Master's Degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in the concerned subject. Candidates appearing in their final year/semester are also eligible.
Age Limit (JRF)
Calculate AgeMaximum 30 Years (as of 2025-12-01). Relaxation of 5 years for Women, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and 3 years for LL.M. degree holders.
Age Limit (NET/Assistant Professor)
Calculate AgeNo Upper Age Limit.

Mode of Selection
Examination Mode (CBT)
The exam is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Total duration is 3 hours (combined for both papers). No break between papers.
Marking Scheme
2 marks for every correct answer. **No negative marking** for incorrect answers.
Selection Criteria
Eligibility for JRF/Assistant Professor is based on the aggregate performance of the candidate in both Paper I and Paper II. Only a small percentage of candidates who appear qualify.

Instruction (How To Apply Online Form)
Step 1: Visit Official Portal
Visit the official NTA UGC NET website (ugcnet.nta.nic.in) and click on the Online Application Link.
Step 2: New Registration
Complete the 'New Registration' process by providing personal and contact details to generate an Application Number and Password.
Step 3: Fill Application Form
Log in with credentials. Fill the form with academic details, subject preference, and choice of exam centers.
Step 4: Upload Documents
Upload required scanned documents, including photograph and signature (10 kb to 200 kb for photo, 4 kb to 30 kb for signature).
Step 5: Pay Fee
Pay the application fee based on your category online. Your application is considered complete only after successful payment.
Step 6: Final Submit and Print
Submit the application and download/print the confirmation page for records.
